Services Provided:
Surgical Specialists of Alabama (SSA) accepts patients who typically have a need for surgical intervention to correct or relieve a physical problem they are incurring. A patient may receive office-based services that include observation, treatments, office-based surgery, or surgical services rendered at an institutional facility.
Facilities and Locations:
SSA office is located in Fairfax Park, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Additional surgical services may be provided at DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport DCH, and HealthSouth Surgical Center. In the event a patient visit is required after routine office hours or weekends, the services may be located within the emergency departments of the local hospitals.
The History of SSA
Surgical Specialists of Alabama is the combined services of Surgical Assoc. of Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa Surgical Specialists. The preceding surgical offices have existed within the Tuscaloosa locale for over 30 years. The SSA organization was formed in 1997 and represents the combined resources and staffs of the preceding groups.
Organizational Structure
SSA is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is elected to serve by the physician partners of SSA. An elected President, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer further serve the Board. The policies of SSA are reviewed and approved by the Board.
Human Resources Department
The Administrative Director serves as the Human Resources Director for SSA. Questions regarding these policies, employment issues, payroll, or fringe benefits should be directed to the Administrative Director.
Management Philosophy
The overall philosophy of SSA is to provide a positive work environment for all staff and physicians and deliver satisfactory service to our patients and insurer representatives. The accomplishments of this philosophy are based upon all members of SSA working together to meet the expectations of our patients and to strive to interact in a professional and courteous manner among ourselves. SSA recognizes the need for structure in our workday but also recognizes the need to be flexible enough to adjust to changing needs and conditions. The needs of the whole organization are considered a priority, but the needs of the individual are considered a critical component of the whole.
