George W. Nunn

George W. Nunn, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Nunn received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed his residency in surgery at the University of North Carolina.

In addition to practicing at Surgical Specialists, Dr. Nunn is on staff at DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport DCH, HealthSouth Surgical Center, and Bryce Hospital. He also served as Chief of Surgery at DCH Regional Medical Center and Chief of Staff at Northport DCH.
Dr. Nunn has been practicing as a General Surgeon in Tuscaloosa since 1980. His special interest include thoracic and vascular surgery. Dr. Nunn is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Nunn and his wife, Joy, have three children.

As of June 30, 2009 Dr. Nunn will be retiring from the practice of surgery.
